Of all the submissions to the project, her logo was the only one that covered all of my requests (seemingly effortlessly) – some of which seemed a tad contradictory, even to me. She did not cling to certain parts of the original idea when I began to pick and choose, which is often a downfall of many good designers. Joy Marie Hallare was one of my first illustration students in the selective BFA in Graphic Design program at California State University, Fresno. Initially she was most comfortable working in traditional media like painting in acrylic and drawing in Prismacolor pencil but grew to gain proficiency in manipulating her images in digital media. Joy Marie can think conceptually – she demonstrated insight and awareness of societal issues through her art. In other works she celebrated the beauty of the female figure through illustrations featuring her original fashion creations.
